We want to make our services accessible to everyone who could benefit from them, irrespective of any disability they may have.
Scottish Enterprise is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This accessibility statement applies to the Scottish Enterprise website, https://www.scottish-enterprise.com. Other websites we manage, such as Scottish Development International and Find Business Support, have their own accessibility statements.
AbilityNetopens in a new window has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 29 December 2023. It was last reviewed on 26 September 2024.
Compliance status
This website is mostly compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 opens in a new window AA standard.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
On the Scottish Enterprise website:
- Title attributes are used throughout the site leading to duplication of text & issues for users with cognitive and motoring issues. We aim to have this fixed by November 2025.
- Several components on the site have keyboard focus styles but are missing a mouse hover style. We aim to have this fixed by November 2025.
- Site logo in the header & footer.
- Social media icons found in the footer
- Close button on the headers search component
- On the search results several pagination, count buttons
- Video component play button although this has a hover style it does not meet colour contrast requirements.
- Edit cookie popup details page uses a divider element which should be hidden from assistive tech. We aim to have this fixed by November 2025.
- Main site search auto complete needs to announce the number of results after a search query is typed into its field. We aim to have this fixed by November 2025.
- Interactive map component (Klapty) used on some of our Business in Scotland pages has several issues preventing it from being accessible. We aim to have this fixed by June 2025.
- Search results pagination visual divider should be hidden from assistive tech. We aim to have this fixed by November 2025.
- On the research and evaluations listings page, the means of showing and reducing the number of filter options has been done in a manner that confuses certain assistive techs, leading them to believe they are in the opposite shown or hidden state from what visually appears. We aim to have this fixed by November 2025.
- On listings pages, when no results are available, there is no non visual indication of this to assistive tech. We aim to have this fixed by November 2025.
- The wording of the manual address entry option on the contact us form needs updated, to make sense when viewed in isolation. We aim to have this fixed by November 2025.
- Dynamically generated PDF content in our upcoming EcoSystem page is missing accessible tags. We aim to have this fixed by June 2025.
On the export assessment tool:
- Some elements on the form do not follow the correct tab order, making it difficult to tab through the form in a logical order
- When tabbing through the page, some items appear in the tab order that shouldn’t be there, such as page introductions, headers and footers
- Matrix questions are contained within tables, and these tables are not fully accessible
- Matrix questions are missing a fieldset legend to clearly link the groups of radio questions to the overall parent question label
- Validation messages are not properly fed back to assistive tech
- Links do not inform users when they are going to open in a new browser
- The ‘Save progress’ button does not meet colour contrast requirements
- The ‘Save progress’ button blink animates twice when in keyboard focus
- The contact phone number in the footer is missing keyboard focus and mouse hover because it has been placed in an image
- Page validation triggers when the ‘Previous’ button is clicked, meaning users can’t go back until they’ve completed the page they’re on
- If a user clicks the 'previous' button before completing the form page, but then clicks 'next' after completing the page, the system will still take the user back to the previous page first
- When moving from one page in the form to the next, page focus does not always correctly move to the first content item on the page
- When navigating using a keyboard, the ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ buttons appear in the opposite order to the way they appear visually
- The progress bar repeats some text to assistive tech
- There is a lack of tagging on PDFs to make them accessible
- The menu button doesn't inform assistive tech when it’s expanded or collapsed
- Some elements are described twice, which causes issues for assistive tech and means some text will be repeated
Our export tool software is provided by an external supplier. We’re working closely with the supplier to fix these issues, and hope to have completed these fixes by March 2026.

Where possible, we try to test our websites with disabled users to identify and address any issues.
This website was last tested in September 2024 by our internal team.
