Be part of building Scotland's future

Scottish Enterprise is Scotland's national and international economic development agency. We work to transform the Scottish economy by helping businesses to innovate and scale, creating high-value jobs, boosting productivity, and growing national wealth.

The role

All of Scotland’s businesses need access to high quality research on a wide range of diverse topics. You’ll help companies find and validate opportunities to reduce risk and increase the chance of success.

As part of a knowledgeable, supportive team, you'll work directly with companies to help them understand market opportunities by answering their questions. You’ll collaborate with a wide range of partners and colleagues as you promote and deliver this highly regarded service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing and analysing business information from subscription databases and online tools, then tailoring and packaging this data to suit the needs of different users
  • Raising the profile of research as a resource by participating in a range of promotional activities
  • Working in compliance with all relevant legislation, from copyright and intellectual property to data protection

Who we're looking for

You’ll need an enquiring mind, flawless writing skills, plus an ability to see complex research requests as challenges in need of solutions. Happy working across a wide range of information resources and tools, you’ll ideally have worked in a library or similar information setting.

Your skills and experience should include:

  • Confidence and experience to ask the right questions in order to get to the heart of a customer's need
  • Well-developed research skills, including knowledge of research tools and techniques to help you find the best way to fully answer customer questions
  • Experience of evaluating resources and presenting the results in the most appropriate format, tailored to the needs of each customer
  • Education to SCQF Level 8 or relevant skills and experience in a research, information management or library environment

You may also have experience of researching business topics and writing for business audiences, though this isn’t essential.

If you're interested in this role, please complete your application by Wednesday 28 August 2024.
