Be part of building Scotland’s future
In this role, you’ll be responsible for connecting with a wide range of potential investors – from growing companies to large businesses across different industries. You’ll understand your customers’ needs, offer tailored solutions, and promote the benefits of setting up and growing a business in Scotland to help secure their investment.
This is a great chance to build your business and sales skills, deepen your knowledge of different sectors, and make a real impact by attracting investment that creates jobs and supports Scotland’s economy and communities.
The role
We’re looking for a motivated and goal-oriented Lead Generation Specialist to join our London team, focusing on attracting businesses from the rest of the UK and Ireland to set up and grow in Scotland.
You’ll need to confidently engage with senior business leaders, build trust, offer valuable insights to support their decisions, and work quickly to meet lead generation targets.
Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and connecting with potential investors in major sectors – energy transition, engineering, and advanced manufacturing – with a focus on businesses across the UK and Ireland
- Using creativity and persistence to engage targeted companies through tailored outreach and group activities, including events and high-level networking in London
- Working closely with colleagues and partners across Team Scotland to form virtual project teams that support investors with their needs like funding, property, talent, or research, and help influence their decision to invest in Scotland
Who we're looking for
A skilled communicator, you’re able to develop strong relationships with both colleagues and external contacts and have confidence influencing people at all levels. Networking is second nature to you – you’re comfortable initiating talks with target customers to solve problems and collaborate with others to get results.
Your resilience, initiative and expertise come from a deep understanding of, and experience in, consultative sales and business development.
Your skills, abilities, and experience should include:
- Managing business-to-business relationships in a complex sales environment, including solving problems, adding value, and influencing senior decision-makers to meet goals
- Experience in at least one of the following sectors: energy transition, engineering, or advanced manufacturing, with the ability to quickly learn and understand Scotland’s main industries to engage confidently with businesses
- Forming, leading and leveraging the resources of virtual project teams to achieve your goals
- Developing and leveraging business networks to identify and secure access to target contacts
- An ability to undertake regular travel within London and the UK to meet with businesses, and to attend networking events outside of routine working hours
