Location: Any Scottish Enterprise office in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee or Aberdeen with home working options
Salary: £22,932 pro rata
Hours: Full time (35 hours)
Status: 12 weeks fixed term – Starting 1 July 2025

The opportunity

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop your professional skills, work on diverse projects, and take ownership of initiatives that improve our cyber security. Your creativity and communication skills will help educate colleagues and enhance our cyber awareness programmes. 

The role

Your focus will be on increasing cyber security awareness by providing regular updates, creating awareness materials, and collaborating with stakeholders to improve security best practices. You’ll help review our cloud systems and take part in real-time security incidents, finding and fixing any issues. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Helping with cyber awareness and training by creating and sharing engaging content across internal channels, and checking materials to make sure they’re clear and easy to understand
  • Analysing phishing tests for our employees and finding ways to improve our cyber awareness materials to prevent staff from falling victim to such emails 
  • Helping improve incident response by reviewing past incidents and identifying ways to prevent them in the future 
  • Reviewing the Cyber Security team intranet content, giving a fresh perspective and identifying improvements 
  • Assisting in the review of policies to make sure they match relevant security standards

Who we're looking for

This programme welcomes applications from undergraduates in the early stages of their degree studies.   

For this role you’ll need a strong foundation in cyber security principles gained through relevant coursework or certifications at SCQF level six or higher. Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must, as is an ability to explain technical concepts in a way that’s clear and understandable. 

Your creativity will be vital when developing new cyber security awareness initiatives. You'll be comfortable working on your own and in a dynamic team environment. You'll also have a passion for cyber security and be keen to make a positive impact by educating others.  

Ideally, but not essentially, you’ll also have:  

  • Knowledge of common cyber threats and mitigation strategies 
  • A basic understanding of network security 
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements 
  • A grasp of phishing test operations 
  • An understanding of the incident response lifecycle 
  • An understanding of SharePoint and an ability to review and suggest improvements 
  • Strong analytical skills to identify weaknesses and propose solutions
