Horizon Europe funding

Businesses based in Scotland can access funding from Horizon Europe. This funding is for businesses looking to develop world-class innovative technologies in collaboration with European partners. Learn about these opportunities and how we can help you access them.

What is Horizon Europe?

Horizon Europeopens in a new window is the EU’s main funding programme for research and innovation, with a budget of €95.5 billion Euros until 2027. If you’re a UK-based business, organisation, researcher or innovator, you can apply to most Horizon Europe funding opportunities on the same terms as EU-based applicants.

Horizon Europe offers a significant opportunity for Scottish businesses to develop world-class innovative technologies in collaboration with partners across Europe. Horizon Europe funding is offered through a series of funding calls, which are announced periodically.

The UK officially associated itself with Horizon Europe on 1 January 2024. UK applicants can participate in the programme on the same terms as applicants from the EU and associated countries.

All funding calls in the 2024 Work Programme and for the remainder of the programme will be covered by the UK's association to the scheme. More information about UK association can be found on the UKRI websiteopens in a new window.

If you need more information, you can check the Horizon Europe programme guideopens in a new window on the EU's official website.
